Thomas P. Wicky is a seasoned hotelier with more than 30 years of
management experience in luxury resort properties. He has developed a
track record of success and credibility in the upscale market, having
catered to affluent national and international clientele.
Educated at the Swiss Hotel School in Lausanne, Mr. Wicky’s hotel
career began in Europe where he held positions in various departments
of premier resorts and luxury urban hotels. This hands-on approach
provided him the invaluable experience of learning the business from
the bottom up, setting the foundation for his commitment to top quality
standards. This background has translated into his keen ability to
relate to both guest issues and management objectives and in turn
combine the two effectively.
A key element to his success has been his ability to integrate with
several Board of Directors units during his career. He has
conceptualized, developed and implemented short- and long-term
strategic plans on behalf of the Boards. He has implemented the
necessary changes to improve products and services to generate
much-improved bottom lines. Having witnessed five ownership changes
during his tenure at one resort, and having been responsible for a $100
million renovation project at another, he has demonstrated a
flexibility and adaptability crucial in keeping Boards focused and
Board production levels high.
Throughout his career Mr. Wicky has been dedicated to excellence. He
has earned a reputation among his peers as one of the premier
troubleshooters in the industry. At three separate properties he was
saddled with the task to earn the coveted Mobil 5-Star or the AAA 5-
Diamond awards. Under Mr. Wicky’s leadership, the resorts successfully
gained or regained the prestigious awards including The Boca Raton
Hotel & Club, The Breakers in Palm Beach and Hotel Intercontinental in
Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Other resorts and clubs which Mr. Wicky has lead include, the Cloister
Hotel at Sea Island, Georgia and Fisher Island in Miami, Florida.
He has represented extensive real estate assets on behalf of his
properties, including: single family homes, condominiums, hotel
accommodations, and memberships sales. Along with the real estate
responsibility, he has run operational aspects of recreational
facilities, including golf, tennis, spa, marina, retail outlets, etc.
Mr. Wicky has served on the boards of privately owned, corporate and
equity member ownership properties.
True to his management style, Mr. Wicky excels by supporting and
strengthening the team around him. Staff training and motivational
development are core elements in his team building. His training gave
him the foundation to work effectively with multi-national and
multi-cultural individuals within the work force. His leadership style
is team-oriented and goal driven, with a commitment to the highest
quality standards. His strong people skills and fun and caring
management style has, over the years, attracted many employees to join
and re-join the properties he has managed.
Mr. Wicky has consistently integrated with the hotel communities,
representing his hotels as President or Board Member of many local
civic organizations and cultural societies. He has been a guest
speaker at Cornell University, and a lecturer at both Florida State
University and Florida Atlantic College.
He continued his development by furthering his education at Cornell
University—Hotel Management School and the University of Miami. Mr.
Wicky holds a Certified Hotel Administrator degree from Michigan State
